I heard from Ólafur J. Engilbertsson, the LOBSTER OR FAME exhibit designer today. He liked my website about the exhibit and told me that it might go on the road! If you love The Sugarcubes or BAD TASTE in general, contact them and tell them you want the exhibit to come to your area!

I finally got to see Bjork live for the first time last night at pier 32 under the Oakland Bay Bridge overlooking the bay and the city lights. The show started at 7:00 pm with a rather nice sounding big band. About 8:00 Bonnie Prince Billy came on, he wasn't that good but I have to hand it to the man, he was brave to face the crowd on his own.
The evening had a chill about itself, but the winds calmed down about sunset. Bjork finally came on at 9:11 and was off quickly at 10:28. Honestly the show was too darn short for the $50 ticket price, but 17 songs seems to be her exact limit. Three song were highlighted by on-stage pyrotechnics and nice and upclose fireworks: Joga, Hyper-Ballad and Pluto.
She relied very heavily on Vespertine, which was a nice recording if somewhat sleepy. It really seemed like a 180 degree turn from her best stuff. I just wish some old Sugarcubes tunes would be included anywhere! The Icelandic String Octet sounded fantastic! Matos stayed in the background and Zeena Perkins did a god job too when I come to think of it.
Overall for a short show, the soldout crowd was overall pleased. My son got lost on the MUNI system and only caught the last 40 minutes of the show. The outskirts had the usual overpriced food and drinks, but with such a beautiful setting and such a great attraction like Bjork how could one go wrong?
This was a great end to a summer that included a week long trip to Reykjavik Iceland. Bjork is a must see! You might have to wait though, but at least she will play in large venues not unlike her last tour of small hard to get into places.
